Youthstream congratulates FIM President Vito Ippolito on his re-election

FUNCHAL (PORTUGAL), 19 October 2010 – Following the FIM’s announcement of Mr. Vito Ippolito’s re-election as FIM President, Youthstream offers their congratulations to Mr. Ippolito.

Mr. Giuseppe Luongo, Youthstream’s President, stated: “Youthstream and myself congratulate Vito Ippolito on his re-election as FIM President. We trust this will give continuity to the projects of the FIM regarding the sports of Motocross, SuperMoto and Snowcross which Youthstream is managing with passion and commitment, and of course with a strong liaison with the FIM, its President Vito Ippolito, the CMS and its President Wolfgang Srb.”
 
Below is the text of today’s FIM press release announcing the re-election of Mr. Ippolito.
 
A historical number of 98 Federations out of 101 attended the FIM General Assembly on Tuesday 19 October at the occasion of the 125th FIM Congress held at the Venetian Hotel in Macau, China.

The members of the FIM General Assembly elected Mr Vito Ippolito (Venezuela) FIM President for a second term by 55 votes versus 41 votes cast for his opponent, Mr Jean-Pierre Mougin.

The FIM General Assembly also elected Nasser Khalifa Al Atya (Qatar), Jorge Viegas (Portugal) and David White (Australia) as FIM Vice-Presidents. David Francis (United Kingdom) and Stig Klemetz (Sweden) were elected as Internal Auditors. All the mandates are for 4 years.

Vito Ippolito, FIM President declared: “I am very pleased with this victory which is more a collective victory of the Federations and the people who have worked hard on the elaboration of the strategic plan and the new governance for the last four years. It is a collective work conducted with transparency and high motivation. We will continue to build altogether the FIM destiny.”

Vito Ippolito is Venezuelan; born on 3 February 1952, married, 3 children.
 
-President of the FMV (Venezuelan Federation) since 1992.
-Member of the FIM Road Racing Commission from 1984 until 1990.
-FIM Vice-President from 1990 to 1996.
-FIM Deputy President since 1997.
-President of the ULM (Union Latino-Americana de Motociclismo) from 1984 until 1998.
-Manager of the team Venemotos whose rider Carlos Lavado became 250 Grand Prix World Champion in 1983 and 1986.
-FIM President since 2006.
 
Vito Ippolito is the first non-European elected President of the FIM since its foundation in 1904.
