MALA LOOKS FORWARD TO CELEBRATING HOME WORLD CHAMPION
By Daniele Rizzi | 01 Apr 2008

As in 2007, Sweden will host the final round of the FIM Snowcross World Championship with high probabilities of watching a home rider collect the Title as Peter Ericson did last year at Falun.

2008 will see a new venue and a new series leader, in the likes of Mala and Emil Ohman respectively. If Ohman will take the Championship victory, it will be the third year in a row that a Swedish Lynx factory rider becomes World Champion.

Emil Ohman will enter Mala with a safe cushion of 29 points over runner up and countryman Viktor Stenman, on the Arctic Cat machine, with the duo to set the home crowd on fire at Mala this Saturday.
After his comeback at Tuuri, two time World Champion Peter Ericson will be finally 100% at his home event but he is very likely to hand someone the number one plate as he was stopped by illness at the opening round of the series, losing vital points in his legendary quest for the third World Title.

Finn Niko Korsumaeki sits third in the points standings but he is incredibly close to runner up Stenman; like the latter, the winner of the last round of 2007 has a slight chance to win the Title but Ohman has showed an impressive form by winning the previous two rounds and collecting three heat wins in a row. Marcus Evensson and Viktor Herten round off the top five while defending Champ Peter Ericson is ninth.

The circuit Tjamstanbacken Mala features an overall length of 1066 metres with a minimum width of 12 metres.
On Saturday, April 5, the first moto is scheduled for 12.30 while the final moto will be at 14.00 .

The meeting is open to the snowmobiles entering the Pro-Racer class, including both 2 stroke machines (up to 600 cc maximum) and 4 stroke machines (up to 1050 cc maximum).

Mala is in central Sweden, at 85 kilometres from Lycksele.
