Ogemar-Hellgren & Öhman own it!

ÄLVSBYN (Sweden), 21 March 2015 - It was one of the gnarliest editions of the FIM Snowcross World Championship ever, where Marcus Ogemar-Hellgren reigned supreme in claiming his first ever FIM Snowcross World Championship title. After finishing seventh in the world championship last year, it was an impressive day for Ogemar-Hellgren as he checked out from last years bronze medalist Nisse Kjellström to win by almost ten seconds. Meanwhile Kjellström managed to wrap up second with a little breathing space over Filip Eriksson who rounded out the top three.

With all of the top three riders hailing from Sweden, Finland’s Viktor Herten broke the pattern in fourth with the freight train of Swedish riders being kicked off again with Oskar Norum in fifth. As for the defending FIM Snowcross World Champion Adam Renheim, and the vice world champion Emil Öhman, both were caught up in a first turn pile up which left Renheim side lined with an injury to his thumb and hand. Meanwhile Öhman did remount and crack on, but after another crash eight laps in, he also pulled in.

FIM Snowcross World Championship TOP TEN: 1. Marcus Ogemar-Hellgren (SWE, Lynx), 17:57.463; 2. Nisse Kjellström (SWE, Polaris), +0:09.123; 3. Filip Eriksson (SWE, Arctic Cat), +0:15.934; 4. While it was heartbreak for Emil Öhman, it wasn’t all doom and gloom for the Öhman family with his sister, the defending FIM Women’s Snowcross World Cup holder, Elina Öhman securing the crown for yet another year. On winning the 2015 FIM Women’s Snowcross World Cup Öhman said, “I had a really good day, the girls were really fast, but I guess I could just hold my lines better”. While Öhman checked out, Ronja Revelj recovered from a mediocre start to move up into second in a matter of laps. After passing Emilia Dahlgren, Revelj couldn’t do much but settle for second as Öhman, the race leader, was already out of sight. Meanwhile Dahlgren managed to come home with in a very respectable third.
