ROVANIEMI (Finland) 9 April 2021 – The 2021 FIM Snowcross World Championship along with the FIM Women’s Snowcross World Cup and the FIM Europe Snowcross Championship are ready to go in Rovaniemi, Finland.
With the prestigious Snowcross event cancelled in 2020 due to COVID-19, the Championship returns this year better than ever and ready to host some of the best racing as the top SNX riders battle it out for the title.
In 2019, the SNX World Championship took place in Boden, Sweden, and hosted some intense racing. It was the perfect weekend for Adam Renheim who went on to claim his sixth consecutive world title in front of his home fans, while in the Women’s Cup, it was Elina Öhman who was crowned the winner!
This time around, the SNX titles will see brand-new winners, with local riders Aki Pihjala and Joonas Keskiaho looking like the favourites heading into the races, along with Oskar Norum, who was third in the championship in 2019.
The Women’s World Cup is also up for grabs, with all eyes on local rider Taru Kylmälä, the two-time Finnish Nation Champion who will go for gold this weekend. There to put up a fight will be the Arnesson sisters, Hilda and Thea who are looking promising heading into the races, along with Mila Nevalainen, a 16-year-old talent entering her first World Cup.
In the European Snowcross Championship the focus will be on Rovaniemi’s local young talent Topi Posti.
The Free Practice and Qualifying sessions are taking place today, Friday, with the main title races set for tomorrow as we crown the 2021 Champions. You can follow the LIVE timing throughout the event HERE: https://speedhive.mylaps.com/LiveTiming/teamlaine
