Kirkenes(Norway) 28 April 2023 – The 2023 FIM Snowcross World Championship, FIM Women’s Snowcross World Cup and the European Snowcross World Championship are coming to Kirkenes, Norway to fight for the mighty title this Friday 28th and Saturday 29th

Up here, far away behind the arctic circle, polar day has just begun and riders can enjoy light 24 hour a day. Sunshine and freezing temperature keep the 650-meter-long snow track in perfect conditions. The Kirkenes Motorklubb that hosts the event will also celebrates its 20th anniversary.
Kirkenes is an amazing place to host the SNX World Championship as Snowmobiles are really important for the region as they are one of the prime vehicle choices to move around the region by locals. The city is also well known for its Snowhotel which is the only ice hotel opened all year. We can expect a lot of enthusiastic fans throughout the weekend as local hero Malene Cottew, will race on home soil with the biggest ambitions.

In 2021, we saw Rovaniemi, Finland hosting the crowning of Peter Nårsa and Hilda Arnesson in SNX and WSNX respectively along with Gustav Sahlsten, victorious in the European category.

This year will be interesting as one of the major favourites, the defendant FIM SNX World Champion Peter Nårsa will let his experience and speed speak this weekend to win his second World Title in a row.
Nasra: “I won the last SNX World Championship (in 2021) and I’m here in Kirkenes to try and repeat my Gold Medal. It is going to be tough as we have all the best riders here so it is not going to be easy but we will work hard and aim for the top spot!”

There will also be a lot of competition this weekend as the recent Finnish National Champion Milka Lammi will be there to put on a fight while the young and very fast Gustav Sahlsten, former European champion, has big hopes to get on the podium. Other riders to watch are the experienced Aki Pihlaja and home rider Elias Ishoel.

The 2023 Women’s World Cup will see a brand-new winner on Saturday, two of the favourites will be Thea Arnesson from Sweeden and already mentioned Norwegian Malene Cottew, coming back from a tail bone injury. Arnesson finished 2nd in 2021 while Cottew has shown incredible speed recently and they will both try to win their first World Cup while the European Snowcross Championship the competition will be wide open and we can anticipate some tough battles throughout the whole event.

The Free Practice and Qualifying sessions took place today, Friday, with the main title races set for tomorrow to crown the 2023 Champions.
In the SNX Qualification, it is effectively one of the favourites, Aki Pihlaja who managed get the Pole position in front of Elias Ishoel and defending World Champion Peter Nårsa.
In WSNX, it is the home favourite Malene Cottew who topped the qualification in front of Hilda Öhman and Thea Amesson.
